We wanted to convert our garage into an ADU and started looking for contractors for the new job. We decided to choose MDM after seeing all the positive reviews and having a great first impression from the initial meeting with Shawn. Throughout the design phase Mike was extremely patient and helpful in guiding us to find the best floor plan. He was very patient in listening to our feedback to make multiple 2D and 3D renderings and explaining our feasible options. With his input, we finally decided on a 500 sq.ft floor plan with 1 BR/1BA, in-unit laundry, and full kitchen. Mike quickly secured the necessary permits in 3 months and demo literally began the next day after approval. Throughout the entire construction period of 5 months, we were very impressed with the level of communication and engagement. We predominantly used WhatsApp to ask questions, get updates, and see photos of the work in progress. However, when needed, he also offered to meet in person, over the phone, or do a video conference to clarify any questions we had. Mike responded to our concerns and questions in a very timely fashion with a high level of professionalism and respect. The workers were all very courteous, hard-working, and skillful in their specific job tasks. We hear horror stories from our friends about how their projects were delayed for months, how workers didn’t show up on many days, how they could not reach their GC, or how their GC would add change orders and balloon the cost. I chose MDM a due to the organization, full disclosure and craftsmanship presented to me. MDM will provide a 3D project proposal to your liking if all possible. Once accepted a contract is presented with cost breakdown. Permits are submitted by MDM so no leg work is needed. As soon as permitted the ground work started and building began. All of the MDM team are nice and respectful men.
